Some of you may know that i get a regular meat box.. well they have started to sell "bones" for stock too. I think this is brilliant 71p for a big bag of chicken bones for stock, they sell lamb / beef pork too. http://www.devonrose.com/shop/chicken/joints/free-range-chicken-bones.html
So I have now set up to get a bag of chicken and a bag of lamb bones each month (which I can then use to make soups and stews for the wee-one).
- chicken and mushroom soup
- chicken and sweetcorn soup
- roasted butternut squash soup
- butternut squash risotto
The lamb bones not only makes good stock for soups, i also use it to make couscous /risottos with (add some chickpeas, fresh coriander and peppers / courgettes to couscous) YUM and risoni dish (rice / pasta / chickpeas / lamb stock / cinnamon / coriander)
A good tip for making stock is, when your chopping your washed veg, pop the "ends" of the veg that you would normally compost into a bag in the freezer, you then build up a stock vegbag.. same goes for if you have some veg in yout fridge thats past its best, just chop-up and pop in your frozen stock bag!
